The Journalists Association “Novomedia” 

"The transformation of media returns the transformation of nation"

 

The Novomedia Association is the all-Ukrainian non-governmental journalistic organization. It was founded in 2004 on the initiative of journalist Ruslan Kukharchuk. The Association unites Christian journalists and other creative stuff of different media in two common ways: spiritual unity and professional interests.

For today, Novomedia  Association  includes about 200 members from secular and Christian media and has representatives in the majority of regions of Ukraine. There are also members of the community in Russian Federation, USA and Canada.

About journalistic neutrality

Political neutrality - is the rule of a good etiquette for a journalist. But even this seemingly immutable tenet starting to oscillate and fall.  Monitoring the processes in the World's largest media, I come to the conclusion that the politically neutral journalism either rooted in the past, or, at least, is no longer exalted to the rank of the absolute.

Media and Church Factors in the Times of Revolution and War Will Be in Focus of a Journalists Conference in Kyiv

Research and practical conference “Revolution, War and Church in the Media Dimension” will take place on September 10 in Kyiv. Symbolically, the event will be hosted in the very heart of the city – the revolutionary Independence Square, the Maidan.

Novomedia Association Visited 25 Universities

25 institutions of higher education in every region of Ukraine and over 1300 student participants. This is the outcome of the all-Ukrainian university tour conducted by the Novomedia Association in February–April 2014. During the tour, association’s leadership visited universities in Kyiv, Dnipropetrovsk, Lugansk, Donetsk, Zaporizhzhya, Sumy, Poltava, Kirovograd, Rivne, Ostrog, Cherkassy, Zhytomyr, Lviv, Chernivtsi, Lutsk, Odesa, Mykolaiv, Kherson. - For what purpose was the Association created? What prompted the creation? 

The Association was officially registered on October 8, 2004 at the initiative of journalist Ruslan Kukharchuk. Its primary purpose was to unite Christians who work in the media to spread eternal values via the mass media. The Association’s motto is “Transforming the media – transforming the society”.

1.Conferences of the “Novomedia” Association (starting 2013 known as Christian Media Weekend). This annual event takes place in various regions of the country. The meetings gather religious journalists as well as representatives of church press services. The event includes team-building, communication, recreation, prayers for mass media, strategic planning for the following year.

Twelve Ukrainian Universities Covered by Novomedia Tour

During February 2014, students of twelve universities in Eastern Ukraine joined the professional tour of Novomedia Association. For students, Novomedia held workshops on the main aspects of working in online publications and presented The New Journalist study guide; for respective university departments and libraries, the Association prepared copies of the said book.
