The Novomedia Association is the all-Ukrainian non-governmental journalistic organization. It was founded in 2004 on the initiative of journalist Ruslan Kukharchuk. The Association unites Christian journalists and other creative stuff of different media in two common ways: spiritual unity and professional interests.

For today, Novomedia  Association  includes about 200 members from secular and Christian media and has representatives in the majority of regions of Ukraine. There are also members of the community in Russian Federation, USA and Canada.

The Journalists Association “Novomedia” is a nationwide public journalistic organization, based in Ukraine. It was founded in 2004 on the initiative of journalist Ruslan Kukharchuk. The organization brings together journalists and other creative media workers who are Christians of different denominations. Thus, Novomedia is a gathering of people based on spiritual unity and professional interests.

At this time there are about two hundred people who work both secular and religious media in this Association. The organization has offices in most regions of Ukraine. Also, members of this Association live in the Russian Federation, United States and Canada. 

Novomedia together with its associates is committed to form a healthy informational reality in Ukraine and helps to approve Christian ethics in society through media. 

The Association serves as a connecting link between religious organizations and the media to help them establish a dialogue to eliminate confrontation. Due to this implementation task has created more than 30 partnering projects at the invitation of organizations, churches and mass media in Ukraine and abroad. Since 2007 strong relationships has been made with Oxford Center of religion and public life. These two organizations jointly created several public events. 

One of the important tasks of Novomedia is monitoring the space of information, and professional development in coverage of religious themes in secular media. Association provides an intensive dialogue with the secular media as well as specialized government agencies.  Novomedia has the blessing and support from largest religious organizations in Ukraine. At the initiative of organization every first Sunday of December Ukrainians have a national prayer for the media. 

Our slogan is: "Transform the media – you'll get transformed society." 

THE TASK OF THE NOVOMEDIA ASSOCIATION

Since 2004, we continually organize international, national and local events. The biggest of them include the following:

7 national conferences for media workers 

3 regional conferences 

6 forums “Christianity online”

2 educational courses in TV production 

4 training courses in print  media and publishing 

3 training courses «PR for Churches and Religious Organizations" 

4 festivals TV and radio 

4 competitions of Christian websites 

3 workshops about creating websites and blogs 

3 "round" tables for the employees of secular media 

And many seminars and courses for churches and religious organizations about how to establish informational departments (press centers) 

Over 1500 participants have participated in these specialized events. The Journalists Association “Novomedia” is a training and consulting center. It regularly prepares and produces educational materials such as newsletters, DVD’s, audio CD’s, lead discussion clubs, and helps new journalists and students to advance professionally.  

Also, the organization is actively working with universities of the country by building close relationships with relevant faculties. Among these universities are - National University of T.  Shevchenko in Kiev, National Universities of Kyiv-Mohylanska Academy and Ostrog’s Academy, Lugansk National University of T. Shevchenko, East National University of Dal, and Cherkassy National University of Bogdan Khmelnitsky. Our specialists organize trainings for students about "Coverage of Religious Themes in  secular media.” Also there are art competitions for students on this topic.

HOW TO PARTICIPATE IN NOVOMEDIA?  

1. Membership 

If you are a Christian journalist (or want to work in media) and have the desire to improve society through media, believe that the transformation of society is possible through change in media, and would like to grow professionally then we are happy to welcome you to our team. Provided that you would like to know more information about how to become a member, please contact the office of Novomedia. It is worthwhile noting that we affiliate not only with skilled media workers but also with beginning journalistic individuals. We can grant you membership conceding that you support the goals and ideology of Novomedia.

The media fairly called the fourth estate - after legislative, executive and judicial. We live in an era of informational wars, where priority is not only iron weapon, but the words, messages and information.

Therefore, media workers who confess Christianity and build their lives based on Gospel teaching are uniting around The Journalists Association “Novomedia”. In this manner members of the Association are trying to become an influential force in agreement with the requirements of the modern world. The Journalists Association “Novomedia” goal is to help Christian journalists. We are ready to back up the interests of our members on all levels and assist them as needed. 

2. Collaborative projects 

Novomedia is open for collective recognition of important projects from different institutions such as: mass media, churches, civic and charitable organizations. These projects are about journalism, teaching, research, scientific, informational, educational and other related work. On the occasion that you may have any beneficial ideas - do not hesitate to contact us and we will work together. We believe that there are many things we can implement only by working as a team and  helping each other.

Your solidarity with us can be demonstrated in several ways: 

- Share Novomedia with friends, colleagues and church members (maybe some of them have been already searching for contact with such organization);
