The Journalists Association “Novomedia” 

"The transformation of media returns the transformation of nation"

 

The Novomedia Association is the all-Ukrainian non-governmental journalistic organization. It was founded in 2004 on the initiative of journalist Ruslan Kukharchuk. The Association unites Christian journalists and other creative stuff of different media in two common ways: spiritual unity and professional interests.

For today, Novomedia  Association  includes about 200 members from secular and Christian media and has representatives in the majority of regions of Ukraine. There are also members of the community in Russian Federation, USA and Canada.


Conference Resolution of Novomedia Journalists Association In View of the Situation in Ukraine

In view of the political and social crisis in Ukraine, International Journalist Association Novomedia calls on its members and colleagues to follow these standards in their professional activities:

• demonstrate respect for territorial integrity of Ukraine and condemn any external infringement of the country’s sovereignty and independence;

• avoid rhetoric inciting interethnic hostility within the country;

• promote respect for political pluralism;

• workon-site,independentlysearchforreliabledata, circulate only verified information;

• systematicallyandconsistentlyexposefalseand slanderousreports;

• cultivateintheiraudiencethecultureofconsideredandcritical use of information in the time of information war;

• emphasize the utmost value of human life;

• coverbotheventsandrelevantpersonal stories in order to preserve sincerity and humanity of the information space;

• helptheaudienceovercomeemotionalstressbyengagingChristianministersandprofessionalpsychologistsasexperts;

• upholdthevaluesofhumilityandrepentancebefore God and people.

We urge journalists to unite their efforts, capabilities and resources for preserving peace. Our mission is to be the voice of truth and peacemaking.

The Resolution was developed and adopted by vote at the Novomedia Association conference on April 12-13, 2014 in Irpin, Ukraine.
