The Journalists Association “Novomedia” 

"The transformation of media returns the transformation of nation"

 

The Novomedia Association is the all-Ukrainian non-governmental journalistic organization. It was founded in 2004 on the initiative of journalist Ruslan Kukharchuk. The Association unites Christian journalists and other creative stuff of different media in two common ways: spiritual unity and professional interests.

For today, Novomedia  Association  includes about 200 members from secular and Christian media and has representatives in the majority of regions of Ukraine. There are also members of the community in Russian Federation, USA and Canada.

Ukrainian tribute to our friend Arne Fjeldstad

In early 2008 he wrote his first letter to me — an invitation to a Journalism Conference in the Czech Republic. A few months later in May Arne Fjeldstad and I met in person for the first time.  Three delegates from Ukraine and a few dozen from all over Europe gathered together in Prague at his invitation.

October 8, 2004 was a date when all-Ukrainian Non-Government JournalistsAssociationNovomedia was officially founded. That day, the founder of the organization RuslanKukharchuk and a Board Member Andrey Makarenkoreceived the certificate ofNovomedia registration in the Ministry of Justice of Ukraine. It was an exciting moment, since a big dream was becoming reality through the first small practical achievements.

Dear Members of the Novomedia Association!

Ten years ago, on October 8,2004, weobtained the certificate of state registration of Novomedia Association as an all-Ukrainian journalists’ NGO. It was an exciting moment when the big vision started to materialize in our small but persistent practical steps.

Since then, we have been working together in mass media for a decade. Our motto remains unchanged: “Transformation of the society through the transformation of mass media”. Our mission is constant and it is to support journalists and to assist the church.

Political neutrality - is the rule of a good etiquette for a journalist. But even this seemingly immutable tenet starting to oscillate and fall.  Monitoring the processes in the World's largest media, I come to the conclusion that the politically neutral journalism either rooted in the past, or, at least, is no longer exalted to the rank of the absolute.

Media and Church Factors in the Times of Revolution and War Will Be in Focus of a Journalists Conference in Kyiv

Research and practical conference “Revolution, War and Church in the Media Dimension” will take place on September 10 in Kyiv. Symbolically, the event will be hosted in the very heart of the city – the revolutionary Independence Square, the Maidan.

Novomedia Association Visited 25 Universities

25 institutions of higher education in every region of Ukraine and over 1300 student participants. This is the outcome of the all-Ukrainian university tour conducted by the Novomedia Association in February–April 2014. During the tour, association’s leadership visited universities in Kyiv, Dnipropetrovsk, Lugansk, Donetsk, Zaporizhzhya, Sumy, Poltava, Kirovograd, Rivne, Ostrog, Cherkassy, Zhytomyr, Lviv, Chernivtsi, Lutsk, Odesa, Mykolaiv, Kherson. 1.Conferences of the “Novomedia” Association (starting 2013 known as Christian Media Weekend). This annual event takes place in various regions of the country. The meetings gather religious journalists as well as representatives of church press services. The event includes team-building, communication, recreation, prayers for mass media, strategic planning for the following year.
