The Novomedia Association is the all-Ukrainian non-governmental journalistic organization. It was founded in 2004 on the initiative of journalist Ruslan Kukharchuk. The Association unites Christian journalists and other creative stuff of different media in two common ways: spiritual unity and professional interests.
For today, Novomedia Association includes about 200 members from secular and Christian media and has representatives in the majority of regions of Ukraine. There are also members of the community in Russian Federation, USA and Canada.
The International Novomedia Forum turned the special attention on the students of journalistic faculties. In fact they will create a system of values in future media. That’s why a Student Novomedia Club passed during global media forum in Kyiv.
Well known experts in media industry such as chief editor of magazine «Edinstvennaya» Elena Skachko, anchorman of Channel 5 Andrey Makarenko, deputy editor-in-chief of newspaper «Kommersant Ukraine» Andrey Yuhimenko, journalist of Chanel 1+1 Aleksey Kutepov became the participants of discussion on the large stage of International Novomedia Forum. They reasoned on a theme of eternal values and new media.
The president of the Novomedia Association Ruslan Kukharchuk from Kiev gave speech on the "Media Symposium 2011". During his seminar, he touched an important issue of interaction of Christian and secular media. On the examples of the major international media such as CNN, Fox News, newspapers Daily Mail, The Daily Telegraph speaker demonstrated that the religious issues it is a norm in famous TV channels and publications. One of the examples is CNN, because evening programs hosting different priests very often. News on religious subjects often broadcasts on the Fox News and on the front pages of the Daily Mail and The Daily Telegraph also appears material on these topics.
The Grand Event in the field of mass communications: a 3-day International Novomedia Forum has been hosted by the capital of Ukraine, Kiev, from 18 to 20 November 2011.
The CEO of The Media Project Dr. Arne Fjeldstad gave a talk at the International Novomedia Forum on November 19th in Kyiv. A journalist, editor, and theologian with over thirty years of media experience spoke on the lessons a secular journalist can learn from the Bible.
Professional club of Novomedia Assosiation gathered its members for regular meeting on October 17th. Elena Mokrenchuk who is an editor, historian, teacher and a director of agency AlfaPRESS shared with the participants years of her experience in Christian and secular journalism.
Registration for the International Novomedia Forum, a conference focused on evangelization through mass media, has already begun, reports The Christian Telegraph in reference to the Journalists’ Association “Novomedia” press center. The event will be held in Kiev on November, 18-20.
The Journalists’ Association “Novomedia” took the lead in planning the event.Participants from Ukraine and foreign countries will come to learn about new possibilities and techniques for evangelizing though the use of mass-media.
Ruslan Kuharchuk, president of the Novomedia Association held media course in the United States which was about a week and a half. Training took place in Rochester (NY) and lasted from 14th to 23rd of July. More than fifty students from different states have passed special courses. Educational part about media issues became part of the two-month training program in the summer Bible school, which takes place on the U.S. East Coast constantly. In 2011 the school is functioning at the Slavic Pentecostal Church (Pastor is Gregory Kasap).
Informational campaign and presentation of Novomedia Assosiation in Ukraine and other counties of CIS have started this May. This campaign has two goals. First goal is to involve Christian media workers to evangelism in the media. Second, it is to mobilize media believers and motivate them to attend the International forum of Novomedia, which is going to be in Kiev in the fall.
