The Journalists Association “Novomedia” 

"The transformation of media returns the transformation of nation"

 

The Novomedia Association is the all-Ukrainian non-governmental journalistic organization. It was founded in 2004 on the initiative of journalist Ruslan Kukharchuk. The Association unites Christian journalists and other creative stuff of different media in two common ways: spiritual unity and professional interests.

For today, Novomedia  Association  includes about 200 members from secular and Christian media and has representatives in the majority of regions of Ukraine. There are also members of the community in Russian Federation, USA and Canada.


Ruslan Kuharchuk: Media and Faith, God and TV must become compatible concepts

The president of the Novomedia Association Ruslan Kukharchuk from Kiev gave speech on the "Media Symposium 2011".  During his seminar, he touched an important issue of interaction of Christian and secular media. On the examples of the major international media such as CNN, Fox News, newspapers Daily Mail, The Daily Telegraph speaker demonstrated that the religious issues it is a norm in famous TV channels and publications.  One of the examples is CNN, because evening programs hosting different priests very often.  News on religious subjects often broadcasts on the Fox News and on the front pages of the Daily Mail and The Daily Telegraph also appears material on these topics.

Ruslan Kuharchuk talked about the need of conveying to the secular media in our countries, that the idea of Christian topics - it's not a religious propaganda, but a reflection of one of the sides of human activity.

Journalists believe that the needs of the audience in the social, cultural, sporting, political information required of being met and spiritual and religious no need to.

It is necessary that the Christian subjects need to became relevant to our media, because the society has a request for such an information. Ignoring the spiritual needs of the audience it is a sign of a bad taste.

"Our task is to change the situation - said Ruslan Kuharchuk. – We need to make sure that the media and faith, God and TV, newspapers and the Scriptures can appear as compatible concepts. We can’t overcome skepticism, sometimes indifferent attitude from the secular media really quick, but we can make positive changes if we put efforts. "
