Professional club of Novomedia Assosiation gathered its members for regular meeting on October 17th. Elena Mokrenchuk who is an editor, historian, teacher and a director of agency AlfaPRESS shared with the participants years of her experience in Christian and secular journalism.
"Synergetics * in the journalism or one man can't win a war" - that was the main topics of the conversation. Elena spoke about the importance for journalists to act together, united, as a team, support one another in the media and she also explained how to do it. Also she discussed the problems of modern informational space.
She defined the main directions of work of the journalist by comparing the information domain as a growing field of crops. We must "cultivate the soil," - by seeking meaningful topics and events and by writing about them. And at the same time she advised her colleagues " to water the seeds" - by commenting and writing on related topics, and "feed" the stories from the lives and testimonies of people.
What to do with outright lies in the press? How to deal with the advantage of false information and distortion of facts? Director AlfaPRESS advised "to add more of pure water in polluted one': write more open, sincere stories, describe the problem more broadly, saying first of all, what caused the problem, and to separate the person from the problem. Besides of methods of "garnering the crop" together, she talked about how essential it is to build good relationship and regularly communicate with people.
During the meeting the guest invited journalists to decide their own attribute: to be "clear canal" or "stagnant reservoir." Finally Elena Mokrenchuk answered the questions and suggested reading materials of some interesting authors.
* (Synergetics from the Greek. Synergetikos - a common, agreed, acting jointly. To the study of creative processes, especially as applied to the solution of problems by a group of diverse individuals.)
