The Journalists Association “Novomedia” 

"The transformation of media returns the transformation of nation"

 

The Novomedia Association is the all-Ukrainian non-governmental journalistic organization. It was founded in 2004 on the initiative of journalist Ruslan Kukharchuk. The Association unites Christian journalists and other creative stuff of different media in two common ways: spiritual unity and professional interests.

For today, Novomedia  Association  includes about 200 members from secular and Christian media and has representatives in the majority of regions of Ukraine. There are also members of the community in Russian Federation, USA and Canada.


The second edition of the book “New Journalist. How to master a media profession” came out

Here you can find 20 the most relevant topics, 15 authors, 4 demonstrative applications, 2 bonus interviews the well-known TV show hosts. And all of that can be found on 224 pages.

15 professionals with many years of experience in media worked to create the book “New Journalist”. Among them there were journalists and editors of such publishing offices as “New Time” and “Focus” and TV channels “Inter” and “1+1”, as well as media-managers, profile lawyers and heads of PR departments.

In this revised and enlarged manual there are 20 the most necessary educational topics. Among others you can find the following ones: genres of journalism, secrets of a good text writing, journalistic investigation and impersonation, features of work in different media, editors’ work-room, legal aspects of journalist activity, civil journalism, religious topics in secular mass media, etc.

There are also 5 new topics that are absent in a previous edition:

• Roman Bochkala, a correspondent of the TV channel “Inter” and a specialist in covering news in hot spots (Donbass, Kongo, Liberia, Egypt, Syria, Kosovo, Karabakh, etc.) wrote about extreme journalism;

• Irina Emets, an editor-in-chief of “Viva! Biography” magazine, shared her experience in the chapter “Portrait feature article: how to write about a person”;

• Maria Kurbatova, a radio hostess who almost ten years has worked on “Svetloye radio”, wrote about the inside world of radio air;

• “The outlines of the reportage photography” is a chapter written by Svetlana Iskruk, a editor-in-chief of the website emmanuil.tv and an active photojournalist;

• The topic “Journalism and press-service by eye-witness” was revealed by Nina  Lomakina and Eveginiy Ridosh. The couple has long-term experience working on leading positions in PR companies and profile specialized editions.

“Initially the manual was created for the students of the media profession school “New journalist”. Therefore in the book, as well as at our school, there is no boring theory or any information that will not be useful for the future journalists. Every chapter is written in readable and understandable language and with humor. Therefore the book is easy to read and it inspires a lot”, - says Zoya Nikityuk, the dean of the school “New journalist”, the editor and writer of the manual.

The book “New journalist” is accompanied by illustrative examples. In appendixes a reader will find the examples of reportage, article, essay, template for writing of text of television story.

As a bonus the readers are offered some interviews with the well-known Ukrainian TV show hosts - Tatyana Tsymbal and Andrey Makarenko. In these special interview for Novomedia Association the colleagues share the secrets of their profession, tell about pluses and minuses of journalism, about their creative careers.

The manual has the list of the recommended literature made by the authors of the book. Here one can find professional, classic and motivation literature that is obligatory for reading by every journalist.

The first edition of book “The New journalist. How to master a media profession” (2014) produced large resonance and was cordially perceived by the target audience. Among other the Novomedia Association presented the textbook at 27 universities of Ukraine. A few copies were passed to the library of every higher educational establishment.
