The Journalists Association “Novomedia” 

"The transformation of media returns the transformation of nation"

 

The Novomedia Association is the all-Ukrainian non-governmental journalistic organization. It was founded in 2004 on the initiative of journalist Ruslan Kukharchuk. The Association unites Christian journalists and other creative stuff of different media in two common ways: spiritual unity and professional interests.

For today, Novomedia  Association  includes about 200 members from secular and Christian media and has representatives in the majority of regions of Ukraine. There are also members of the community in Russian Federation, USA and Canada.

On December 22nd  graduates from Novomedia School named “New jornalist” were awarded with final qualification certificates. As they say that anyone have no regrets that during three months they have been diligently studying the very beginning of journalism. Ultimately many of them saying that the knowledge gained will stimulate them to action. After the certificates distribution, during the fourchette, everyone discussed the studying process. Some of them shared with some plans for the future in the journalism field, others accords a thank to the institutors of the School “New journalist”. Lastly all the students were listening honourable comments about themselves from the administrator of Novomidia – Tetyana Pinchyk, after that a commemorative picture has been made.

As a reminder, during the period of December 4-22 association Novomedia conducted training – School called “New journalist”. About 20 passionate people were able to keep terms and gain knowledge of a journalism profession. The study program included both theoretical and practice sides, which students completed either on the academics or at home. During three months there were kept 46 lectures and one excursion.

Throughout quarter of thoroughly studying they have completed mini-course of Russian and Ukrainian languages. Students learned to distinguish homonyms and paronyms, crossbreeds and other wrong words. No less interesting was familiarization with journalism’ genres. Ruslan Kukharchuk, chief of the Novomedia Association, made a brief overview on news-writing, regulations of their reporting, about analytical and civil journalism.

Lesya Shelest brought in information about a king of a modern journalism – an essay. “Main part at essay is to touch off personality impression” – that’s the point that the speaker made accent on. When it comes to the report, major thing about it is a feeling of a place. Lesya also shared about types of report and how to write it correctly.

Mariya Pronina made a speech about structure of an interview. Students wrote down a list of what journalist should have when he or she is about to go on the interview. She also gave Imperative information about types of organization and preparation for that.

There were additional analytical, marketing information, photographing and design fundamentals. In a word the school’ pupils achieve a significant useful and on-demand knowledge. Through the time they have learned under the Lubov Gasanova’ mentoring how to write leads and endings; how to make quiz, to write about news, essays and reports.

Furthermore the school members undertake an excursion to the association Emmanuel. It was a meridian point in their studying. After taking on radio- and TV-journalism, MSM’s workers-to-become were able to get familiar personally with complex processes of audio- and video-recording, storage and distribution of information. As a part of the excursion there was a meeting with manager of the Mission – Steve Weber; he spoke about the Emmanuel activities and main work fields. 

Teachers of the journalism school are practicing professionals – editors, anchormen, journalists and other specialists, who are not just delivered lectures but also shared their own journalism experience.

“The school gave me new knowledge and the teachers are inspired me to apply that in my practical life. I am happy to have new contacts and looking forward to continue dialogue and cooperation” – shared her impressions Ann Ostapets.

“During the courses I’ve learned of much new and useful information. The speakers' professionalism encouraged me for the new ideas. Journalism isn’t only about creativity but also a self-discipline and work-out on yourself” – commented Ilona Chernejchyk.

“Studying at the journalism school revealed some new horizons for me in this field. Earlier before I was thinking that journalists are those people who writing an articles for a range of newspapers, appear in news on TV. Now I understand that journalist’s work is far broader and I am able to find something for myself, something that I like at most” – shared Marta Goncharenko, post-graduate student of the school “New Journalist”
