The Journalists Association “Novomedia” 

"The transformation of media returns the transformation of nation"

 

The Novomedia Association is the all-Ukrainian non-governmental journalistic organization. It was founded in 2004 on the initiative of journalist Ruslan Kukharchuk. The Association unites Christian journalists and other creative stuff of different media in two common ways: spiritual unity and professional interests.

For today, Novomedia  Association  includes about 200 members from secular and Christian media and has representatives in the majority of regions of Ukraine. There are also members of the community in Russian Federation, USA and Canada.


How to become professional for four days, or create newspaper for two Novomedia managed the educational course

 "Is that possible for new media people to create a full-fledged newspaper for two days?"- might say or think professionals once. "Even two newspapers are quite possible!"- The Novomedia Association said. They announced the second admission for 4 day tanning.  Extreme course from Novomedia was held February 2nd -5th in Kiev. The course was about "Creating newspapers and magazines from A to Z”. There were 26 enthusiasts from Ukraine, Moldova, Belarus and Russia who attendant this event. 

Participants learned basics of journalism, editing, marketing, advertising and design. Experts in this field shared their knowledge and experience by answering questions and giving advices. Ruslan Kukharchuk, who is the President of Novomedia and also editor-in-chief of the newspaper “Cornerstone”, explained about the format of different publications and about all types of writing in journalism. Zoya Nikityuk, who is editor-in-chief of publication of clubs chain for women FitCurves, led the seminar called: “Interview: is our main steering”. She also shared the secrets of successful titles. Maria Pronina, an editor of "Your Health" magazine, created an excellent interactive dialog arguing with the participants about the characteristics of writing life-story. She also talked about the successful selection of photos and specific of communication with the heroes of particular materials. At the end of the first day Lubov Hazanova, editor-in-chief of glossy and specialized publications, described the work of editorial office. She outlined the main positions and responsibilities in the editorial team, starting from making the grid of publication until the time where publication sends to be printed. 

Veronica Gavrilyuk, (newspaper Kommersant-Ukraine) has opened a new day. By giving different examples, the speaker explained the importance of the selecting relevant and fresh news. Zoya Nikityuk and Svetlana Kucherenko who is editor in chief of “Perekrestok TV” and the website of "News of the Christian World" explained how to put available information in good readable texts without misprints.  They have been replaced by Natalia Karavaeva, marketing director of clubs for women FitCurves.  She told about an importance of each part of publication, such as advertising and marketing in print media. There are also the final stages, which are information about layout and creation of the publishing model. Vladislav Sila, who is director of advertising agency "Media Svit" and special guest Peter Bevza, the famous Ukrainian artist were talking about this final stages. 

The participants of the seminar have felt the atmosphere of printing on the second day already. Newcomers were divided into two groups. One of the groups led Zoya Nikityuk, and the second one - Svetlana Kucherenko. Work has begun! There were acquaintance, distribution of positions, the selection of the concept, outlines of the investment project. The simple discussions about the context of the publication and the target of audience have shifted into debates in the two different groups. Brainstorm of ideas, suggestions and adjustments came from journalists-newcomers. Finally, everybody felt confident, got into the roles, and understood the main point of the plan.

The work has been going almost to the dawn of the fourth and last day. Participants have been writing, rereading, interviewing, they also went to different meetings. They created their first "baby". For the due day two newspapers were born such as "I don’t believe!"and "Daddy’s Newspaper.” 

Finale of the fourth day was the presentation of the new "masterpieces". After work on the mistakes, corrections and presentation they got certificates of completion the course. "I got enormous pleasure to work with the participants.  It’s very nice to see some results after all. They came with a great desire to learn. Two days of continuous work, plus the existing store of knowledge, and we got two masterpieces. If it would be possible to implement these ideas, these newspapers certainly would find its readers and the space that has not yet covered in the press, would be occupied by Christians, "- said the coordinator of the course Zoya Nikityuk.

Tired but happy students took a picture for the good memory and exchanged contact information... Who knows, maybe in the future they will be able to gather in these newly editions of newspapers.
